Takashi Fujimura's paper: Hitchcock-Hawksianism

Hitchcock's Occupation-Movement Relationship Table

Black: Works from the Skill Loss Movement ① ● Works where the occupation and the movement are formally and substantively inconsistent.

Blue: Works from the Skill Loss Movement ② ● Works where the occupation and the movement are formally consistent but substantively inconsistent.

Red: Works from the Skill Movement ① ● Works where the occupation and the movement are formally consistent.

Pink: Works from the Skill Movement ② ● Works where the occupation and the movement are formally inconsistent but substantively consistent.

Green: A skills movement aimed at the skills of human beings themselves, in a broader sense than just occupations. Works such as "The Smiths" (1941) and "Under Capricorn" (1949) are not occupational movements, but they are works that move towards broader human origins than occupations, such as "a man (woman) doing a man (woman)" and "a nobleman doing a nobleman," and are skills movements that aim at human origins in a different sense than the Hitchcockian movement of getting involved.
